Insider Tip

Have dead batteries, old tennis balls, retired bike parts, worn out running shoes, or empty propane canisters you’ve been meaning to recycle? Take them to Sports Basement. And if you need to get some shopping done with the little ones in tow, the store has a kids’ play area to help make it easier for parents to browse.

Supporting Outdoor Adventure in the Presidio

Sports Basement opened in the Presidio in 2003 in the old U.S. Army commissary where soldiers once bought groceries. You’ll still see signs for the “Bakery” and “Fish” departments, an homage to the park’s past. Now they sell an assortment of “grab and go” food.

In the Middle of the Action

Located on the Bay Trail SF not far from Crissy Field East Beach, Sports Basement is right next to the Outpost Meadow picnic area at  Presidio Tunnel Tops.

“Basically Free” Bike Rentals

There’s no better way to experience the Presidio than on a bicycle. You can rent a wide array of traditional and electric bikes at Sports Basement in the Presidio. If you rent a bike, you can receive the full rental cost back as store credit to use at any Sports Basement location. Learn more about Sports Basement bike rentals!
