In every direction, you’ll find an amazing view, from the Golden Gate Bridge, to Alcatraz, to the San Francisco skyline. And West Bluff is an ideal base camp for a day at Crissy Field, just a short walk from Crissy Field beach and other popular Presidio destinations.

Why We Love Crissy Field West Bluff Picnic Area

West Bluff is a place to make memories. It’s where families come to grill a meal and watch the Frisbees fly. And it’s next to Crissy Field beach and Torpedo Wharf, two great places to play and take photos.

Accessibility at West Bluff Picnic Area

Accessible restrooms are nearby next to the Warming Hut Park Store. The nearby parking lot includes spaces for those with mobility limitations. Visit the National Park Service website for details on accessibility at nearby West Bluff Beach.

Insider Tip

Kids can have a great day here, building sandcastles at Crissy Field beach. If you’re up for a short walk, the young and young-at-heart can learn about the Bay’s aquatic life just 0.2 miles away at the Greater Farallones National Marine Sanctuary Visitor Center.

Arrive Early

Bring Your Own Picnic

While the nearby Warming Hut Park Store has an assortment of beverages and packaged snacks, it’s not a grocery store – so be sure to pack in what you need for grilling.

Presidio History is Nearby

Crissy Field was once an Army airfield, and the huge lawn to the east was where planes once landed. History buffs in your crew can also take a 10-minute walk to Fort Point National Historic Site to see a fabulous example of military architecture. Check the website for hours.

No, tables and grills are available on a first-come, first-served basis. You can reserve tables in advance at Picnic Place at Presidio Tunnel Tops.

Restrooms are next to the Warming Hut Park Store, a short walk away. 

There is no grocery store in the Presidio. You can get packaged snacks at the Warming Hut Park Store nearby. Or take a walk east on the Bay Trail to find Presidio Pop Up food trucks, typically located near the Outpost play space.
