Crissy Field Overlook is a popular stop along the Presidio Promenade on the way to the Golden Gate.
At this stop along the Presidio Promenade Trail, you’ll find a landscaped plaza with benches set along a curved, stone wall, inviting you to sit and take in the vista.
Be ready to whip out your camera. The panoramic view features sailboats bobbing on San Francisco Bay, Alcatraz, and Angel Island at center stage, and the iconic San Francisco skyline in the distance.
You’ll also get a sense of just how grand Crissy Field really is, with its grass airfield, beaches, trails, and the red-roofed airplane hangars that now house popular visitor destinations.

From Crissy Field Overlook you can see the historic Army airfield revitalized as a green lawn, beautiful beaches and trails, and revitalized airplane hangars and warehouses that now are home to a variety of local businesses. This is also a fantastic place to watch the sunset over the bay.

Crissy Field Overlook is along the multi-use Presidio Promenade. It’s a great place to pause for a rest on your journey toward the Golden Gate Bridge.
As part of the 2001 restoration of Crissy Field, more than 100,000 native plants representing 110 species were planted. Biologists have identified 17 fish species and 135 bird species in Crissy Marsh, including herons, egrets, ducks, and gulls.
