Presidio Tunnel Tops is seeking vendors who reflect the Bay Area's diverse culinary styles.
Early applicants can be among the first to provide hospitality offerings at an extraordinary new destination opening in the Presidio on July 17, 2022
San Francisco, CA (May 18, 2022) – Today, the Presidio Trust opened a two year, rolling Call for Interest for Presidio Pop Up—a new outdoor, daily food and beverage service program at the spectacular Presidio Tunnel Tops, opening to the public on July 17, 2022. The new park site is expected to host nearly two million visits in its first year. Operators may apply to participate in any quarter, and early applicants will be considered for the opening season pilot. For rolling deadlines, requirements, and the application form, visit our website at presidiotunneltops.gov/popup.
Presidio Tunnel Tops was created by the community, for the community, to provide a welcoming and relevant experience at the Presidio, San Francisco’s national park site. “We know that food is an important part of the park experience and can help create a sense of welcome and belonging,” says Allison Stone, director of visitor engagement at the Presidio Trust. “Presidio Pop Up aims to offer an exciting, rotating line-up of vendors whose delicious foods celebrate Bay Area cultures and traditions. Food is a universal connector that brings people together, and we hope that Presidio Pop Up will help turn the Presidio Tunnel Tops space into a vibrant community place.”
This new seven-day a week program was informed by visitor feedback and builds off the success of the weekly Sunday Picnic and Twilight event series, Presidio Pop Up last fall (in association with the My Park Moment photo show), and other past activations involving food. The program will offer a more frequent way for visitors to relax and enjoy the Presidio Tunnel Tops and other national park experiences, while enjoying local eats. It is also an opportunity to discover the best locations for food service.
Operators will draw from millions of visitors from around the Bay Area and the world, as well as the more than 7,000 people who live and work in the Presidio. Rotating schedules will allow flexibility to meet demand during peak times, and there is an abundance of opportunity for qualified vendors to secure regular shifts.
First consideration for the first quarter (July 17-September 30, 2022) will be given to those businesses who apply by Wednesday, May 25, 2022 for the opening season pilot. Applications will continue to be received and reviewed after that date on a quarterly rotating basis. This Call for Interest will remain open for the next two years. Mobile vendors will join a café at the Presidio Transit Center opening later in 2022, and a second brick-and-mortar space that is currently available for lease.
