The Presidio Trust is seeking a GIS Specialist to join the Planning & Compliance Department. An unusual federal agency, the Presidio Trust runs the only national park site that must generate all our own revenue. Each year we earn in excess of $100 million by leasing over 700 former military buildings as homes and workspaces. We then invest that money into our historic forest, dunes, streams, trails and designed landscapes, into our hundreds of historic buildings, into our infrastructure, into visitor sites and programs, and into our people, to make this magnificent place come alive for our park visitors.
As a member of the GIS team, the Geographic Information Systems (GIS) Specialist develops, manages, coordinates and implements geographic information systems tools to document, analyze and manage context and environmental resources. The GIS team fulfills a pivotal, interagency role that allows for programmatic integration of the knowledge of the biological and physical resources, digital cartography and geography databases pertinent to the Presidio’s natural and cultural resources and themes. Operates and maintains work in a clean, safe, compliant, and environmentally conscientious manner.
This is a full-time position with benefits and a starting pay range of $92,764 to $105,867. The starting base salary is dependent on the experience and qualifications of the candidate. Applications received by March 1, 2024 will receive first consideration.

The Planning and Compliance Department develops and implements innovative, efficient, and inclusive plans and guidelines that advance the Presidio Trust’s strategic goals. This interdisciplinary team includes urban design and transportation professionals, staff ensuring historic and environmental compliance and sustainability, GIS specialists, and permitting experts. The department oversees efficient permitting and compliance processes for all building, landscape, and infrastructure projects to ensure that the Presidio’s significant history and ecology are protected, and that projects advance Trust strategic goals and the public interest.
