The Presidio Fire Code is the Fire Prevention Code for the Presidio Trust Area B.
Furthermore, for the purpose of prescribing regulations governing conditions hazardous to life, property, and the environment from fire, or explosion, hazardous materials, and hazardous uses, that certain codes known as the 2021 Fire Code NFPA 1, fire and Life Safety Code NFPA 101 and 2022 Title 24 Part 8 California State Historical Code.
The roles and responsibilities for the Fire Marshal’s Office (FMO) includes, but is not limited to:
As the designated Authority Having Jurisdiction in the Presidio Trust, the Presidio Trust FMO is responsible for the following activities:
All new construction and all existing buildings undergoing major rehabilitation, alteration, or change of use require fire sprinklers and fire alarm systems. The FMO requires separate permits for fire sprinklers and fire alarm installations. Each sprinkler and alarm system must be installed by a Trust-approved professional fire and life-safety contractor, licensed to design, install, certify, service, test and maintain the specific system. Upon request, the FPO can provide a QVL of fire and life-safety contractors.
Fire alarm, smoke detection and fire sprinkler systems must comply with Fire and Life Safety Codes as adopted by the Presidio Trust. The FMO can provide detailed requirements for alarm, smoke detection and fire sprinkler systems, including requirements for how these fully addressable systems must communicate with the monitoring facility.
The United States Park Police provides all police services in the Presidio. The San Francisco Fire Department provides fire and emergency services to the Presidio.
