Presidio Tunnel Tops is 14 acres of beautiful parklands created atop the Presidio Parkway tunnels connecting the heart of the park to its Crissy Field waterfront Crissy Field waterfront. Since opening in 2022, it has become one of the Bay Area’s must-see destinations thanks to unparalleled views of the Golden Gate, fun attractions for kids, and community-driven events. Park Ambassadors provide a friendly face to welcome and orient visitors, answer questions, and help them begin their national park adventure.
In 2025, the Presidio Trust launched the Presidio B.A.R.K. Ranger Program with the aim to foster a stronger relationship between the Presidio and dog owners/walkers. This year, we’re seeking dog-lovers to join the first B.A.R.K. Ranger Program Ambassador Volunteer team. Volunteers will increase public understanding of the park’s dog policies and best practices, empowering visitors to become park stewards and community ambassadors.
It’s the only natural lake in the entire 80,000-acre Golden Gate National Recreation Area, and a great place to spot turtles, frogs, and birds. For many years, the Partnership for the Presidio worked with scientists and volunteers to clean up the water and soil. This restoration has allowed many native species to be reintroduced to Mountain Lake. This is a place where we can learn from past mistakes and understand how to preserve nature for the future. Park Ambassadors help us teach visitors about the ongoing restoration of the lake. (This program is on hiatus for 2026)
First established in 1776, the Presidio Officers’ Club stands as a testament to California’s beginnings. Today, it’s home to free heritage exhibitions that tell the story of the Presidio’s past and present. Our volunteers help the public to explore. Volunteers at the Presidio Officers’ Club are managed by the National Park Service. Please visit volunteer.gov to learn more and apply.
