Learn about the facilities at Rob Hill Campground, from the fire ring to the restrooms.
Rob Hill does not have a campground host or full-time on-site staff; however, Presidio Trust staff and janitorial staff check on the campground frequently.
Each campsite contains a fire ring, a free-standing charcoal BBQ grill, food storage lockers, and four picnic tables.
Fire Rings: Bring your own firewood as wood is not available for purchase in the campground and the collection of wood in the Presidio is not allowed. Do not leave campfires unattended.
BBQ Grill: Please bring your own charcoal and grilling supplies.
Food Storage Lockers: Each group campsite comes with two food storage lockers. Please store all items with a scent – including ALL food and toiletries – in the lockers provided. Please ensure the lockers are closed and latched when not in use as proper food storage helps protect park wildlife, including our resident coyotes.
Water: Potable water is available at faucets on the east and west sides of the campground (between the entrances to the campsites). An additional drinking fountain can be found outside the bathroom building.
Restrooms: Rob Hill has accessible indoor toilets with running water but no showers. Shared by all campers, these restrooms are not available to groups without reservations. The restroom lock combination will be included with the confirmation of your camping permit.
Scullery: Please use the scullery room for dishwashing. Do not wash dishes in the restroom sinks. There is a compost bin in the scullery for the disposal of food matter and organic waste. Dish soap and cleaning utensils are not provided.
Refuse receptacles: Landfill, recycling, and compost bins can be found on the east and west sides of the campground. Help the Presidio reach its goal of becoming a Zero Waste park by separating your compostable items, recyclable items, and landfill waste into the appropriate bins. Campers are responsible for disposing of their trash and leaving their campsites in good condition after use.
Emergency Call Box: There is an emergency phone in the campground to the west of the bathrooms. This phone directly dials U.S. Park Police dispatch.
Parking Permits: Camping reservations come with four parking permits per campsite. These permits allow up to four vehicles per campsite to park in the campground parking lot on Central Magazine Road. Additional vehicles will need to park offsite, with the nearest parking lots located just a few minutes’ walk away. Information about overflow parking locations is included with your permit.
Bike racks: Bike racks are available on either side of the bathroom building. Please bring your own bike lock.
The campground parking lot includes four spaces for those with mobility limitations. Access the campground via a paved 200-foot wheelchair accessible path. Two campsites – Ishmen and Yunahia – offer a raised pad that can accommodate tents for wheelchair users.
Rob Hill’s upper Fire Circle is reserved for Crissy Field Center youth programs but may be available for public use on a case-by-case basis. Please inquire at camp@presidiotrust.gov after securing your camping reservation. Additionally, the Great Room is reserved for education programs sponsored by the Presidio Trust, Golden Gate Parks Conservancy, and National Park Service and is not available for public use. Please do not disturb the groups using these spaces.
