Eli Horton and Martin Wernick, co-owners of CrossFit 7×7, opened their workout haven in the Presidio in 2023. We sat down with two of the business owners, Eli Horton and Martin Wernick, to discuss their latest classes and what they love most about locating their business in the park.
Is there anything you’d like to share about your business and what makes CrossFit 7×7 unique?
Martin: We think we can help our clients change their lives. We’re here to support our members so they can walk out of our doors – and into the park – and feel like they’re a better version of themselves.
Eli: It’s not about calories or workouts; it’s about the people. We have a tight-knit community with coaches that are knowledgeable and passionate about what they do. Our team truly cares about helping our members get healthy, make friends, and have fun.
Martin: If you’re interested in learning more, check us out on the first Saturday of every month when we offer a free beginner’s CrossFit class. People can register for it on the Crossfit 7×7 site or enjoy a free one-on-one 30-minute consultation. This way, people can get a feel for the programs we offer.
What are some benefits of having a business in the Presidio?
Eli: It’s an unbeatable location. The park makes not only a beautiful, picturesque setting for us, but it allows us to curate a fantastic environment for our members.
Martin: We looked at a lot of places and the Presidio is a destination that we wanted to be a part of it. It’s the best place to come get healthy because it’s where families and people already go to get outdoors, be active, and play.
What’s your favorite thing about the Presidio?
Martin: I geek out on the history of the buildings. The fact that we’re located at Crissy Field and that this used to be an airfield and we’re actually located in an aviation hangar. I really appreciate the repurposing of industrial and historic buildings.
Eli: I like to park over at the Main Parade Lawn and walk to the Veterans Overlook at Presidio Tunnel Tops or walk along the Battery Bluffs area past the historic batteries. The views of the Golden Gate Bridge are unbeatable there. And I love to hike here – this is what I like to think of as “urban hiking at its finest”.
