Native Ringlet Butterflies Reintroduced to the Presidio

Park ecologists and butterfly experts are working together to bring back the native species.

Park ecologists and butterfly experts have started working together to re-introduce the native Ringlet butterfly to the Presidio.

The Presidio’s Jonathan Young and David Harelson collected butterflies in the Marin Headlands and brought them to an area near Inspiration Point. “Over the next few years, we’ll bring hundreds of butterflies from the headlands to restored grasslands in the park,” Jonathan shared.
