Earth Day in Presidio: habitat restoration, weeding, City Nature Challenge.Celebrate Mother Earth all month long. For Earth Day, Tuesday, April 22, engage in habitat restoration in the Presidio and weed plants at Battery East. For National Park Week, April 19 to April 27, enjoy free entry to over 400 national parks nation-wide (entrance to the Presidio is always free). And become a citizen scientist as part of the annual City Nature Challenge. Rally your friends and family to join in to care for and learn more about the park!
Earth Day with the Habitat Stewards
Help restore and preserve the natural areas of the Presidio of San Francisco with hands-on habitat restoration. No experience necessary, just come dressed to work rain or shine!
Earth Day with Golden Gate Maintenance
Work alongside natural resources professionals from the National Park Service, Golden Gate National Parks Conservancy, and the Presidio Trust to ensure a well-balanced ecosystem in the park. Learn plant IDs, invasive weed management techniques, and find out what our staff does to protect endangered and rare plants!
City Nature Challenge 2025
Join the 10th anniversary of the City Nature Challenge and explore the park, take pictures of plants and critters, and share your findings through iNaturalist. Help contribute to important research that helps inform biodiversity and how humans can coexist with nature.
