Presidio Twilight

San Francisco, CA (May 8, 2019)The Presidio Trust and Off the Grid announce the return of San Francisco’s celebrated community campfire – Presidio Twilight – for a sixth season, on Thursday evenings beginning, May 23, 2019. As the companion event to the popular Presidio Picnic, which takes place on Sundays from 11 am–4 pm, Presidio Twilight runs every Thursday from 5 pm–9 pm, featuring a diverse menu of mobile food options from local creators, live music, lawn games, and communal fire pits. New this year are lantern-lit communal lawn domes that offer park visitors a place to step in from the weather to enjoy a meal, and bring added comfort to the “picnic at dusk” atmosphere.

Located in the heart of the Presidio at the historic Main Parade Ground, Presidio Twilight provides a perfect meet up place on a Thursday evening. “After a busy day, all you need to do is bring yourself — and warm clothes — to enjoy a wonderful meal under the stars with friends, colleagues and family,” says Allison Stone, Director of Visitor Engagement for the Presidio Trust.

“The ambiance of Presidio Twilight is really what makes it so special,” says Off the Grid Founder Matt Cohen. “The Presidio is the perfect gathering place to sit by the fire and share in a uniquely San Francisco experience—one that has also been designed thoughtfully to accommodate guests no matter the occasion, or weather.”

In addition to communal lawn domes, fire pits, and seating (all provided on a first come, first serve and shared basis), this year’s Presidio Twilight experience will feature a true sensory smorgasbord — live DJs playing chill, ambient tunes, wonderful food creators, lawn games, and a full bar serving cocktails, wine, beer, and warm beverages.

Not to be missed is Presidio Twilight’s 2019 lineup of the best Bay Area mobile food creators including deaf-owned authentic neapolitan-style pizza purveyor Mozzeria, artisanal empanada maker El Porteno, and warming Asian noodle specialist Sip n’ Slurp. Presidio Twilight will feature 8-10 rotating mobile food offerings every Thursday.

Visitors can start the evening early at the Presidio Visitor Center (open 10 am– 5 pm daily), located right next to the Main Parade Ground, giving guests an overview of the Presidio, its history, and the park’s many offerings. The Visitor Center is also a perfect stop for any forgotten picnicking gear, like a warm fleece jacket, blanket, flashlight, bottle opener, or sustainable, reusable bamboo picnic utensils. Arrive before 5 pm to learn more about the Presidio and pick up last minute supplies.

Like Presidio Picnic, Presidio Twilight is designed with sustainability in mind and strives to be a zero-waste event. All containers provided by food vendors are compostable, no plastic straws or water bottles are sold, and participants are encouraged to follow the “leave no trace” ethos – including accessing the park without a car.

A free natural gas shuttle, PresidiGo Downtown Shuttle, provides regular service to major transit lines, MUNI provides direct service, and miles of trails and bikeways provide an alternative way to get to the park. Presidio Twilight is located on the historic Main Parade Ground, bordered by Montgomery Street, at Lincoln Boulevard. For additional ways to access the Presidio, visit Getting to and Around the Park or the Presidio Twilight Facebook page for directions from neighborhoods within San Francisco and from East/North/South Bay regions.
