(Presidio of San Francisco — March 27, 2014) — Off the Grid, San Francisco’s largest organizer of weekly street food markets, and the Presidio Trust are pleased to announce the return of two popular Off the Grid events: Picnic at the Presidio and Twilight at the Presidio. Beginning Sunday, April 6 and Thursday, April 10, the 2014 season on the Presidio’s Main Post promises specialty items from San Francisco’s favorite eateries and food trucks alongside inventive and complimentary amenities — creating a new spin on traditional dining experiences.

Off the Grid: Picnic at the Presidio will feature iconic offerings from established Bay Area staples such as: Nopalito, Kasa Indian, Wise Sons, Rosamunde, and Del Popolo.Always looking to bring new and exciting elements to returning events, this year Off the Grid will be partnering with the Good Food Awards to showcase a number of their guild members and award winners each week. Twenty three prepared food vendors round out the food lineup, with snacks for the drive home, a nosh for later, or even dinner.

Blanket service will be back by popular demand, serving small-batched cocktails, such as Bloody Marys and Mimosas, for purchase blanket-side, as well as Frozen Mimosas, Kentucky Mules, and Strawberry Pimm’s Cups. A “bubble bar” will be new this season, with all things bubbly, from sparkling wine to carbonated water.

All of the classic picnic accessories will be on hand — horseshoes, bocce ball, croquet, kites for flying, and even blankets and extra sweaters for sale, should the weather take a turn. For a contemporary twist, The Pad Studio will hold open-air Yoga classes throughout the afternoon, and a DJ will spin old-school classics to spark a dance party. Wildly popular cornhole tournaments, hosted by City Cornhole, will be a new feature this season.

Come back on Thursdays for Twilight at the Presidio and celebrate evenings in a relaxed and immersive manner — complete with lantern-lit dining cabanas, cabana-side cocktail service, Adirondack chairs, fire pits, live music, and views of the sun setting over the Bay. Capitalizing on the iconic view of the Golden Gate Bridge, and the nostalgia of snacking and conversing next to an open fire, Twilight is a prime location for a family outing, a first date, or simply a memorable dinner with friends.

Food and drinks will be served for enjoyment either fireside or in cabanas and bar service will be onsite and available for delivery via waited service to cabanas and fire pits. In addition, live music will be played to encourage the campfire feel of the evening. The 2014 Twilight season will feature a bi-weekly rotating lineup of 10 food trucks including some favorites: Fins on the Hoof, Edgewater Fish Company’s The Crab Lab, El Sur, The Chairman, and The Boneyard.

Twilight at the Presidio is San Francisco’s only campfire event and aims to be the very best way to start the weekend early.

About the Presidio Trust

The Presidio Trust is a distinctive federal agency created to save the Presidio of San Francisco, a historic Army base, and transform it for a new national purpose. Since 1998, the Trust has worked to catalyze ideas, partners, and resources from all sectors to protect the Presidio as a public place. In 2013, we reached a key milestone established by Congress and now care for the Presidio without annual taxpayer support. The Trust is guided by a clear vision for the future: To ensure that the Presidio will forever be a public place — vital to life in the Bay Area, valued by all Americans, and celebrated as an international destination.

About Off the Grid

Off the Grid began in June 2010 with the simple idea that grouping Street Food vendors together would create an experience allowing neighbors to connect with friends, and families to reconnect with each other. Since then Off the Grid has worked hard to develop markets that are both located in urban cores of cities, and that utilize spaces that are not easily activated effectively throughout the day. Currently, Off the Grid operates 28 weekly markets in the greater Bay Area, and works with over 175 vendors weekly. At its core, Off the Grid believes in the power of a shared food experience to connect communities.
