San Francisco, CA (April 21, 2021) – Marie Louise Hurabiell, Esq. will assume leadership of the Presidio Trust Board of Directors, succeeding William E. Grayson, Esq., whose term as chair will end on April 24, 2021. Lynne Benioff was elected board vice chair, replacing Ms. Hurabiell, as she assumes the chair position.
Marie Hurabiell was appointed to the seven-member board in March 2018 and was elected vice chair on April 24, 2019. She also chairs the Finance and Audit Committee of the Trust. She is an eighth-generation San Franciscan, regent of Georgetown University and a founder and board member of Ellipsis Health, Inc., a technology company using speech analytics to gauge the behavioral health of individuals in real-time across a broad spectrum of situations. Ms. Hurabiell is a leader on several boards and non-profits in the San Francisco community, as well as an active supporter of education, safety, and children’s causes.
“I’m honored and excited that my colleagues have entrusted me with the responsibility of leading the Trust’s board,” says Ms. Hurabiell. “The Presidio is a national park treasure that is beloved by Bay Area residents and people across the nation. It’s personally meaningful to me, as I grew up near the Presidio and visited it with my grandparents when it was a military post. We regularly attended the evening lowering of the U.S. flag — a ceremony that made an indelible impact and gave me a deep reverence for the values of our country. We could not have imagined then that my life would be so connected with this special place. I thank Bill Grayson for his extraordinary leadership these past four years and look forward to working with him as he continues to serve on the board.”
Lynne Benioff joined the Presidio Trust’s Board of Directors in 2015 and is chair of its Governance Committee. She is also co-chair of the Golden Gate National Parks Conservancy’s Presidio Tunnel Tops Campaign Committee, which has successfully raised $98 million to build the Tunnel Tops — the largest park-making endeavor in the Presidio’s transformation from military post to national park site. Ms. Benioff is the co-chair of TIME and active on the boards of several organizations.
Bill Grayson was appointed to the board in May 2017 and elected its chair in April 2019. He was active in such projects as opening the Lodge at the Presidio and the process to consider proposals for the rehabilitation of Fort Winfield Scott in 2019. Under his leadership, the Presidio procured two U.S. Treasury loans for $30 million for capital investments. Mr. Grayson has been dedicated to highlighting the military history of the Presidio and working with the board and staff to manage the impacts of the COVID-19 crisis.
