Free Weekend Shuttle Now Connects the Presidio, Downtown SF

SHARE

Presidio of San Francisco (January 8, 2014) — A new weekend shuttle service offering visitors a free ride to the Presidio from the Transbay Terminal and Embarcadero BART began on Saturday, January 4. The shuttle is sponsored by the Presidio Trust.

PresidiGo’s Downtown Shuttle will run year-round on Saturdays and Sundays from 10 am to 7 pm. Departures are every 30 minutes. All are welcome; no pass is required.

”The Presidio is rolling out the welcome mat,” said Craig Middleton, the Trust’s executive director. “We want to make it easy for the public to get to the park and experience all it has to offer, from trails to events to restaurants. By linking to BART, MUNI, and other regional transit, we can connect to neighborhoods across the San Francisco Bay Area. We hope this new shuttle service becomes a valued link to the park.”

Once an active military post, the Presidio is becoming one of the city’s most popular destinations. Each year thousands enjoy miles of trails, the Crissy Field shoreline, beaches, a golf course, and more than 900 acres of open space. Events include Off the Grid Picnic at the Presidio, which welcomed more than 100,000 guests to the park from April to October of 2013. The Presidio Officers’ Club, reopening in fall 2013, will be a new social gathering space with a restaurant and cultural events. The Presidio is also home to many visitor-serving organizations, including cultural organizations, restaurants, and even a rock climbing gym.

With secure bike racks, the PresidioGo Shuttle is a great way for cyclists to access more than 19 miles of bikeways in the park.

The PresidiGo Downtown Shuttle runs regularly between Embarcadero BART/Transbay Terminal and the Presidio Transit Center on the Main Post, the heart of the park. Once visitors arrive in the Presidio, they can reach other areas of the park via the PresidiGo Around the Park Shuttle, which runs continuous loops through the Presidio every day of the week.
