It is collected primarily for site management purposes and to create summary statistics, which are used for such purposes as assessing what information is of most and least interest, determining technical design specifications, and identifying system performance or problem areas. We use the information we collect to measure the number of visitors to the different sections of our site and to help us make our site more useful.

Information Collected for Tracking and Customization (Cookies)

If You Send Us Personal Information

You do not have to provide any personal information to visit our website. If you choose to provide us with personal information, such as by sending a message to an email address on this website, by registering for a newsletter, or by filling out a form and submitting it through our website, we will use that information to respond to your message or to fulfill the stated purpose of the communication. If you submit your resume to us electronically, we will use your personal information to consider your application for employment.

We may share information you give us with contractors acting on our behalf or with another government agency if your inquiry relates to that agency. In other limited circumstances, such as responses to requests from Congress, law enforcement agencies, or Freedom of Information Act requests, we may be required to disclose information you submit. If you provide comments in response to a request for public comment, we may make those comments as well as your identity available to the public in a publication or by posting them on our website, but will not reveal your contact information. In summary, any information we collect may be subject to disclosure, but will be handled in accordance with the requirements of the Privacy Act and the Freedom of Information Act to ensure the greatest protection of personal privacy.

Please do not send us sensitive information, such as your credit card or social security numbers, via email. It is possible that during transmission of your email this information may be intercepted by a third party. We cannot guarantee its safety while in transit.

Third Party Tools

We use services provided by third-party tools to improve our website experience. The Presidio Trust may collect and maintain personally identifiable information you make available on these official Presidio accounts on third-party website and applications consistent with the Privacy Act, the Federal Records Act and other applicable laws. You may also view the Presidio Trust’s Privacy Impact Assessments for more information on the agency’s use of third-party and social media platforms.

Some of these third-party websites and application service providers may collect the information you voluntarily provide in accordance with their terms of service and privacy policies. The Presidio Trust does not control what these third-party service providers do with the information they collect from visitors. You should review the third-party service provider’s terms of service and privacy policies to understand how and when the third-party service provider collects, uses or shares information you make available by using its services.

Eventbrite: Event registration is hosted on Eventbrite. Eventbrite links may be found throughout our site. According to Eventbrite’s privacy policy, Eventbrite “automatically collects certain technical data that is sent to us from the computer, mobile device and/or browser through which you access the Services (“Automatic Data”). Automatic Data, includes without limitation, a unique identifier associated with your access device and/or browser (including, for example, your Internet Protocol (IP) address) characteristics about your access device and/or browser, statistics on your activities on the Services, information about how you came to the Services and data collected through Cookies, Pixel Tags, Local Shared Objects, Web Storage and other similar technologies”.

Google Analytics: “Like many services, Google Analytics uses … cookies to track visitor interactions. These cookies are used to store information, such as what time the current visit occurred, whether the visitor has been to the site before, and what site referred the visitor to the web page. Browsers do not share … cookies across domains” (from the Google Analytics privacy overview). We do not collect personally identifiable information from these third-party tools, nor provide them with additional personal identifiable information. We use IP masking in order to share only a portion of the IP address for geolocation. In addition, Google provides an Opt-out Browser Add-on “to indicate that information about the website visit should not be sent to Google Analytics.” We do not endorse and make no representation about the effectiveness of the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.

OpenWeatherMap: The weather data is provided by OpenWeatherMap and is set to display weather local to the Presidio. API requests are processed via HTTPS and are encrypted.

Weglot: The translation tool Weglot is embedded on the site. Text is automatically translated into other languages depending on user selection. Website data submitted to Weglot Translation API is the number of translation requests, which resets on the 1st of each month.

YouTube: Our video presentation is provided by YouTube. According to the YouTube privacy policy, YouTube “may record information about your usage of the site, such as the channels, groups and favorites you subscribe to, which other users you communicate with, the videos you watch, the frequency and size of data transfers, and information you display about yourself as well as information you click on in YouTube (including UI elements, settings). If you are logged in, we may associate that information with your YouTube Account.” More is available on YouTube’s privacy policy page.

The Presidio Trust participates in open, un-moderated forums offered by commercial social media sites in order to increase government transparency, promote public participation, and encourage collaboration. The Presidio Trust currently maintains official accounts on FacebookInstagramLinkedIn, X, and YouTube. The Presidio Trust does not control, moderate, or endorse the comments or opinions provided by visitors to these sites. In addition, the Presidio Trust does not collect, maintain, or disseminate information posted there.

The essential information shared on these third-party sites is available on This is the official source of information from the Presidio Trust. If you use a site outside, you are subject to the privacy and security policies of that site.

The Presidio Trust posts videos, images, and news on its social media sites to provide alternative opportunities to disseminate information and content to the public. The Presidio Trust does not actively seek personal information and will only collect the information necessary for the proper performance of official functions or to accomplish a purpose required by statute, executive order, or regulation. If the Presidio Trust receives your personal information through your interaction with a social media site, we are required to maintain the information in accordance with the requirements of the Privacy Act and the Freedom of Information Act to ensure the greatest protection of personal privacy.

The Presidio Trust uses and URL shorteners. According to its privacy policy, uses cookies. Those cookies are invoked only if the shortened URL is clicked and will help identify the number of clicks (and dates) on each link, the source of those clicks (email, website, social media etc.), and the location (listed by country). The Google URL shortener at is used by Google products to create short URLs that can be easily shared or emailed. According to, all URLs and click analytics are public and can be accessed by anyone.

Links to Other Sites

Our website has many links to sites we co-own or a partner of, including: Inn at the Presidio, Lodge at the Presidio, the Presidio Golf Course, and Presidio Residences. Other associated sites include the National Park Service and the non-profit Golden Gate National Parks Conservancy. We also link to private organizations, including the websites for tenant organizations located at the Presidio.

Once you access another site through a link that we provide, you are subject to the privacy policy of that site. The privacy policies and procedures described here do not apply to any external sites that we do not own. We encourage you to read the privacy policies of any site you link to from ours, especially if you share any personal information.

Email Newsletter Subscriptions

The Presidio Trust maintains lists of subscribers who request periodic email updates. The email subscription service allows visitors to the Presidio website to receive notifications by email on a periodic bases. If you sign up for these automatic updates, you will only receive the Presidio updates you specify, and you may unsubscribe at any time. You will be asked to provide your email address. Providing this information is voluntary; however, it is necessary in order to participate in this email subscription service. We do not sell, rent, exchange or otherwise disclose our list of subscribers to external organizations.


For site security purposes and to ensure this service remains available to all users, this government computer system employs software programs to monitor network traffic to identify unauthorized attempts to upload or change information, or otherwise cause security related problems. Anyone using this system expressly consents to such monitoring and is advised if such monitoring reveals evidence of possible abuse or criminal activity, such evidence may be provided to appropriate law enforcement officials. Unauthorized attempts to upload or change information on this server are strictly prohibited and may be punishable by law, including the Computer Fraud and Abuse Act of 1986 and the National Information Infrastructure Protection Act of 1996, as amended.

Security of our website and privacy of your personal information is important to us. We take reasonable precautions to prevent and detect security incidents on our website. Such measures include making regular software updates and using anti-virus software to help ensure all files that we post on our website are virus-free. However, we are not responsible in the unlikely event the site contains malicious or corrupted content.
