Presidio Adventure Passport

Adventure awaits for explorers of all ages!

Stop by the Presidio Field Station to pick up your very own Presidio Adventure Passport kit. Each free kit includes a passport/field journal, a deck of 18 illustrated GeoQuesting cards, a mini-pencil, and an illustrated “Adventures in the Presidio” map.

Use this new kit to enjoy treasure hunts in the park, where you seek hidden boxes and messages placed in unique locations around the Presidio, each holding fun facts about park history and the natural world related to the spot where you find them. Adventure awaits!

Summer Fun

Summer is a time when the park is bursting with life. Wildlife young are exploring, and flowers and plants are bursting with life. With this in mind, there are a few summer features in the park’s natural worlds you might search for – and record – in your Presidio Adventure Passport’s journal pages this summer (scan the QR code on the back of your passport to find the 10 summer Field Notes around the park):

  • Berry season – Summertime is well known for berries and the berries we eat all come from wild ancestors (the Presidio has many berry-producing plants). Blackberry picking is permitted in the Presidio!
  • Flocks of Brown Pelicans – Back from the brink of extinction, large V-shaped flocks of these ancient creatures can be seen gliding along Crissy Field and the Presidio’s coastal bluffs.
  • Wildflowers – Many of the Presidio’s flowering plants bloom in the summertime. Look for fuzzy native bumblebees on their pollinating journeys.

New Presidio Adventure Passport Stickers

This summer at the Field Station we have new stickers available for your passport, featuring original artwork by local urban artists Asa Kittner (pelican flock for the coastal bluffs ), Jennifer Han (Andy Goldsworthy’s Wood Line sculpture for the Historic Forests South), Luna Mae Lupine (Silvery blue butterfly for Lobos Creek Valley), and Mira Henry (Red Masked Parakeets for the Main Post). Find a geocache or Field Note in those four adventure areas and then visit the Field Station’s passport table to commemorate your visit by getting a sticker with these artful images in your passport.
