What to Expect at This Event

The Interfaith Center at Presidio Chapel celebrates the Presidio’s 250th anniversary with Captivating Saga of Crissy Field, a free audio-visual program at Presidio Chapel exploring the history and transformation of one of the park’s most significant landscapes.

The program centers on a tone poem for orchestra by composer Deon Nielsen Price, accompanied by historic film footage and artistic imagery. Together, the music and visuals trace chapters in Crissy Field’s history, from the First Peoples and arrival of Spanish colonists to the creation of the U.S. Army airfield, construction of the Golden Gate Bridge, the wartime language school, and restoration of the marshland.

Three public showings will take place at 1, 2, and 3 p.m., with Price and docent Mary Zamboukos available for questions. Presented in commemoration of the Presidio’s 250th anniversary, the program offers a creative look at how Crissy Field has changed over time and the people and events that have shaped it. Admission is free and advance RSVP is requested.
