What to Expect at This Event

Join Presidio ecologists for a 2-mile roundtrip walk to learn about the birds of the Presidio and the ongoing restoration efforts taking place along the Tennessee Hollow Watershed. We’ll begin and end our walk at Quartermaster Reach Marsh

We’ll see a variety of species – from shorebirds and waterfowl at Quarter Master to warblers, to woodpeckers and sparrows throughout El Polin Spring. Early migrant birds should also be trickling in.

On top of looking at cool birds, we’ll chat about the restoration of this watershed throughout the years as well as the impact of climate change on birds. This event is for anyone and everyone – those new to birdwatching to more avid bird watchers.

Note:

  • Binoculars and bird guides will be available for participants to borrow, but guests are invited to bring their own.
  • Wind, rain, and fog are common in March. Participants should dress in warm layers and come prepared for wet weather. This event will happen rain or shine.
  • If you have a smart phone, feel free to download the Merlin Bird ID app and eBird app to engage in participatory science together!

Space is limited.
