Sign Shop Worker

The Presidio Trust is seeking a Sign Shop Worker who will support the Infrastructure Stewardship Department. Once an Army Base, the Presidio of San Francisco is now a new kind of national park. The 1,500-acre Presidio is richly layered in history, is a natural oasis for wildlife, plants, and people, and offers iconic views known around the world. In its third decade as a park, public awareness and enjoyment of this exceptional place continues to grow.

The Sign Shop Worker provides signage support to the Presidio Trust, its tenants, and organizations using Presidio facilities.  Makes, installs, and maintains signs, panels, and banners to identify, provide clear direction and information while preserving the historic structures in and around the Presidio Trust.

This is a full-time position with benefits and a starting at $29.19 per hour. This position is included in a bargaining unit, specifically The Laborer’s International Union of North America, Local 792, United Public Employees of California. Responsibilities

  • Work alongside journey level Sign Technicians to install, clean, remove graffiti and repair signage as necessary.
  • Stage temporary event signage as needed.
  • Meet with customers to devise signs appropriate for the intended purpose.
  • Dig holes in various types of soil and hard surfaces by hand and with power demolition tools for sign placement.
  • Assist in sign production for roads, trails, buildings (interior and exterior), and vehicles.
  • Assist with finishing and laminating work.
  • Identify supply needs and assist in maintaining Sign Shop, trucks, and equipment in a clean and orderly manner.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Driver’s License
  • Ability to operate a utility bed truck.
  • Working knowledge of computer systems.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as procedure manuals, safety rules and operating instructions.

Desired Qualifications

  • Familiarity with design Cad/Cam software such as: Adobe Illustrator, CorelDraw, Composer, or Fusion 360.
  • General artistic ability.

Driver’s License Investigation & Review

This position requires a current, valid Driver’s License prior to starting work, and maintenance of a driver’s license throughout occupancy of the position. You will be subject to a driver’s license investigation as a New Entrant, and annual driver’s license reviews thereafter. An individual’s granting of an investigation and resulting reports thereafter is voluntary, however, employment is contingent upon the successful completion of a driver’s license investigation. The Trust may refuse to hire an individual, rescind an offer of employment, or review and terminate the employment of a current employee who does not successfully complete the driver’s license investigation.
