About the Role

The Presidio Trust is seeking a Plumber who will support the Building Stewardship Department. Once an Army post, the Presidio of San Francisco is now a new kind of national park. The 1,500-acre Presidio is richly layered in history, is a natural oasis for wildlife, plants, and people, and offers iconic views known around the world. In its third decade as a park, public awareness and enjoyment of this exceptional place continues to grow.

The Plumber assembles, installs, and repairs pipes, fittings, and fixtures of heating, water, and drainage systems in and around Presidio Trust properties. They contribute to the clean, safe, and environmentally conscientious plumbing and related management, operations, and maintenance systems of the Trust.

This is a full-time position with benefits and a starting at $42.13 per hour. This position is included in a bargaining unit, specifically The Laborer’s International Union of North America, Local 792, United Public Employees of California. Responsibilities

  • Execute work orders submitted for rental units. Diagnose, troubleshoot, and resolve all aspects of plumbing and heating issues.
  • Identify, assess, and implement scope of work for repairs to eliminate recurring systemic problems, including maintenance friendly permanent repairs, while holding conservational value as a priority.
  • Inspect structures to ascertain obstructions and to prevent weakening of structure from installation of pipes.
  • Assess, repair, replace all piping systems for plumbing and heating including water and gas in residential and commercial buildings.
  • Repair and maintain plumbing by replacing washers in leaky faucets, mending burst pipes, and opening clogged drains.
  • Drive service trucks to transport tools and equipment to work sites. Maintain service truck per GSA guidelines. Clean interior and exterior, check fluids and lights, ensure tools and material for jobs are secured and safe for travel.
  • Manage daily and long-term work schedule for plumbing and heating projects delegated by work leader and supervisor.
  • Assist co-workers in the field on out-of-the-ordinary challenges or bigger workloads.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

  • Associate Degree OR
  • Equivalent from two (2)-year college or technical school, OR
  • Two (2) years related experience AND/OR
  • Training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to draft, read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Other duties as assigned.

About the Department

The Presidio is an extraordinary place to work for the thousands of employees of approximately one hundred businesses who lease commercial space in the park. Driver’s License Investigation & Review

This position requires a current, valid Driver’s License prior to starting work, and maintenance of a driver’s license throughout occupancy of the position. You will be subject to a driver’s license investigation as a New Entrant, and annual driver’s license reviews thereafter. An individual’s granting of an investigation and resulting reports thereafter is voluntary, however, employment is contingent upon the successful completion of a driver’s license investigation. The Trust may refuse to hire an individual, rescind an offer of employment, or review and terminate the employment of a current employee who does not successfully complete the driver’s license investigation.
