About the Role

The Presidio Trust is seeking a Marketing Manager to join the Marketing and Communications Department. Once an Army post, the Presidio of San Francisco is now a new kind of national park. The 1,500-acre Presidio is richly layered in history, is a natural oasis for wildlife, plants, and people, and offers iconic views known around the world. In its third decade as a park, public awareness and enjoyment of this exceptional place continues grow.

The Marketing Manager is responsible for strategy, project management, implementation, and tracking of external marketing communications campaigns that support audience development goals for the Presidio Trust. Works as part of a cross-functional marketing team utilizing and implementing best practices in brand management, market segmentation, public relations, advertising, digital marketing, and design to support cohesive marketing communications efforts. Tests, launches and analyzes marketing campaigns that support the audience and/or business development goals and reports on campaign performance. Serves as the account manager for work with the visitor engagement team, and other departments, as assigned, ensuring their work is folded in broader brand and marketing strategies. Pursues the Trust’s goal of welcoming a broad diverse public to visit and engage with the park.

This is a full-time position with benefits and a starting pay range of $102,888 to $117,294. The starting base salary is dependent on the experience and qualifications of the candidate. Applications received by September 8, 2023, will receive first consideration.

Responsibilities

  • Develop external marketing communications plans based off of audience and market insights. Support audience development and business initiatives, inclusive of goals, target audience segments, key messages & creative campaign, strategies, tactics, metrics, timelines, and budgets, utilizing industry best practices.
  • Translate marketing strategies into tactical work plans and measurable outcomes to achieve specific marketing communications goals.
  • Execute internal and external roll-out of integrated visitor marketing and outreach campaigns and/or coordinate the work of colleagues, including executional plans, management of deadlines, implementation, measurement and reporting of social media, earned media, media partners, email communications, events, promotions, advertising, etc.
  • Coordinate with marketing + communications channel leads related to the development of specialized project plans and steps to execute plans, including preparing or supporting the preparation of creative briefs; and estimate costs, time schedules, resource allocation, and production schedules.
  • Create clear and compelling messages and visuals and manage creative for campaigns and promotions through working with the in-house team or manage outside vendors in creative development utilizing best practices in audience segmentation, while ensuring communications comply with brand standards and company narratives.
  • Evaluate and manage the need and expertise for use of outside contractors, consultants, managed service partners, tenants and colleagues ensuring deliverables are on-time, on-budget, and high-quality including strategy, planning, and execution.
  • Develop, track and report execution and key performance indicators of marketing programs to channel and program managers with recommendations for improvement to ensure a maximum return on investment of the marketing program.
  • Define and continually improve processes for efficient and effective communications with external target audiences and internal colleagues.
  • Identify and manage third-party promotional partners and programs to ensure maximum value is received by the Trust.
  • Lead and manage marketing communications for internal departments, as assigned, building strong client relationships, strategically incorporating desired content and programs that meet business needs while ensuring Trust brand guidelines are followed.
  • Develop marketing guidelines for external partner programs or initiatives based on Trust and partner brand guidelines.
  • Prepare and ensure communications with all stakeholders and management resonate and drives support of the program.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, communications, public relations or related field; AND
  • Five (5) years of project/account management using integrated marketing communications practices with nationally recognized brands.
  • Strong working knowledge and expertise of the marketing process, DEI marketing best practices, tools, and deliverables including the latest practices in integrated marketing, media, digital, social media, advertising, email marketing, and sponsorship.
  • Expertise in marketing analytics and metrics reporting.
  • Superior communications skills including message development, writing, editing, presenting, and relationship management.
  • Ability to think strategically, multi-task, attend to detail and deadlines, and work well under pressure.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional teams through ambiguity and manage shifting priorities while delivering on-time and on-budget programs.
  • Skill and proficiency in Microsoft Office; experience with email marketing, social media, and marketing reporting tools

Desired Qualifications

  • National Agency experience
  • Knowledge of Bay Area media, local community and business influencers, as well as Bay Area counties and politics
  • Bi-lingual or working skills in Cantonese, Mandarin or Spanish is highly desirable.

About the Marketing and Communications Department

The Marketing Communications team advances and protects the reputation Presidio and Presidio trust with the public, stakeholders and employees in partnership with the National Park Service and Golden Gate National Parks Conservancy. Our work in growing awareness of the place and agency brands, attracting new audiences and deepening the emotional connection between visitors, stakeholders, and employees ensures the Trust meets its mission of brining national park experiences to urban populations at no cost to taxpayers. In 2022 Time Magazine named the Presidio as one of the top 22 places to visit in the world, and the New York Times credited the park’s opening of the Presidio Tunnel Tops as why San Francisco’s reputation is turning the tide as a “must-see” place to be.

Driver’s License Investigation & Review

This position requires a current, valid Driver’s License prior to starting work, and maintenance of a driver’s license throughout occupancy of the position. You will be subject to a driver’s license investigation as a New Entrant, and annual driver’s license reviews thereafter. An individual’s granting of an investigation and resulting reports thereafter is voluntary, however, employment is contingent upon the successful completion of a driver’s license investigation. The Trust may refuse to hire an individual, rescind an offer of employment, or review and terminate the employment of a current employee who does not successfully complete the driver’s license investigation.

COVID-19 Vaccination Requirement

All Presidio Trust employees must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 or obtain an approved medical or religious exemption. Employment is contingent upon submitting a COVID-19 Certification of Vaccination or qualifying for an exemption when hired.
