High Voltage Electrical Worker

About the Role

The Presidio Trust is seeking a High Voltage Electrical Worker who will support the High Voltage team. Once an Army base, the Presidio of San Francisco is now a new kind of national park. The 1,500-acre Presidio is richly layered in history, is a natural oasis for wildlife, plants, and people, and offers iconic views known around the world. In its third decade as a park, public awareness and enjoyment of this exceptional place continues grow.

This is a full-time position with benefits and a starting at $35.70 per hour. This position is included in a bargaining unit, specifically The Laborer’s International Union of North America, Local 792, United Public Employees of California. Responsibilities

  • Assists in measuring, cutting, bending, threading, assembling, and installing electrical conduit. Pulls wiring through conduit.
  • Splices wires by stripping insulation from terminal leads, twisting or soldering wires together, and applying tape or terminal caps.
  • Connects wiring to lighting fixtures and power equipment.
  • Assists in installing control and distribution apparatus such as switches, relays, and circuit breaker panels.
  • Assists in testing continuity of circuit to ensure electrical compatibility and safety of components with testing instruments such as ohmmeter, battery and buzzer, and oscilloscope.
  • Assists in the repairs of faulty equipment or systems.
  • Other duties as assigned. More difficult work may be performed under close supervision.

Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Valid State of California Driver’s License Class C or higher
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
  • Ability to communicate effectively to customers and Trust staff
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts
  • Ability to follow a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Be able to frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand and reach with hands and arms, walk, use hands to finger, handle or feel; climb and balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.

Working Conditions

The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those the employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to risk of electrical shock. The employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts; high, precarious places; and outside weather conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.

About the Presidio Trust High Voltage Electrical Worker

Our dedicated team of professionals are responsible for delivering power to our residents and visitors in a safe and efficient manner. They maintain substations, overhead and underground distribution facilities, transformers, streetlights, and metering equipment. They maintain and operate the high volt distribution system, but also respond to all unplanned events 24/7, providing 5-star service to the Presidio.

Driver’s License Investigation & Review

This position requires a current, valid Driver’s License prior to starting work, and maintenance of a driver’s license throughout occupancy of the position. You will be subject to a driver’s license investigation as a New Entrant, and annual driver’s license reviews thereafter. An individual’s granting of an investigation and resulting reports thereafter is voluntary, however, employment is contingent upon the successful completion of a driver’s license investigation. The Trust may refuse to hire an individual, rescind an offer of employment, or review and terminate the employment of a current employee who does not successfully complete the driver’s license investigation.

COVID-19 Vaccination Requirement

All Presidio Trust employees must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 or obtain an approved medical or religious exemption. Employment is contingent upon submitting a COVID-19 Certification of Vaccination or qualifying for an exemption when hired.
